For such a big relief, big bank stocks are down for the day. Dunno what the big deal is.
Did you go to the ope board meeting for this proposal?
Nah. Just listening to it on my computer.
What’s the cliff notes on this?
Basically changing bank regs on how much capital big banks need to hold. Lowers capital requirements by $117bn or ~6% of total capital.
not really that much in the grand scheme of things.
Just dialed in. Who was talking just now? Old white dude who doesn’t understand he has a mike?
lol. That was governor chris waller
Insane that I think you’re saying that unironically
It’s really not that much? Bank capital ratios have increased over 100% since 2008
@Topher any thoughts on the lady talking now?
That’s governor cook. She’s…not the best governor that the board has ever had. It’s insane that someone with her qualifications ever got nominated/confirmed.
You should stop being shy and just come out and say you’re hating on her because she’s black. At least republicans were somewhat more transparent when they just attacked everything over DEI
Wut?
I was referencing her fairly light publication record and lack of any insightful speeches as a governor since getting the job?
She wasn’t even able to get tenure at a good economics program prior to somehow getting nominated. Michigan state isn’t exactly ground zero for cutting edge economic research
You should see the EJMR posts about her
What was that one governor going on about the shrinking of the supervision division?
That was just him grandstanding. It has nothing to do with the presentation today.
@Topher any relevance from this?
