Another day, another “victory” tour being planned. Honestly, it’s just more work for us, isn’t it? I swear, if I hear “big, beautiful bill” one more time, I might actually scream. It’s not that I don’t appreciate seeing things get done, but the sheer effort it takes to get these things across the finish line is just monumental. I spent most of the past week buried in details, trying to make sure all our ducks were in a row for this thing. It’s like a vote-a-rama never truly ends, it just morphs into a victory tour, and then into the next legislative battle. My inbox is already overflowing with meeting requests, probably from folks eager to capitalize on this “win.” Some of them, I just have to take, even if it means staying here until 9 PM, sacrificing what little personal time I have. It’s exhausting, but hey, that’s how you “make it” in this world, right? We just keep grinding, hoping it all pays off. Maybe. Hopefully.
Now, about the bill itself… some of the elements are definitely a step in the right direction. Tax cuts? Yes, please, especially if they’re retroactive. People need to see that impact directly in their pockets, not just hear about it. And border funding, of course. But some of the other stuff… you just know it’s going to create a whole new set of headaches down the line. It’s always a mixed bag, isn’t it? You get some wins, and then you brace for the fallout from the compromises.
It just reminds me of how much I wish we could simplify things. Like, could we just get rid of a few agencies that clearly overstep their bounds? Some of these organizations are just constitutional nightmares waiting to happen, and yet, here we are, still dealing with them. It’s infuriating when clear constitutional violations are just…ignored. But I digress.
Anyway, off to another meeting about this “victory.” Wish me luck. And send coffee.
