Holy smokes, guys. It’s like 2:30 in the afternoon on July 3rd, and I’m just about done. This “Big Beautiful Bill” or whatever they’re callin’ it now (they just can’t pick a name, kinda like they can’t pick a normal workday, am I right?) has pretty much eaten my life. Haven’t seen the sun in, like, days. It’s all “victory tour” this, “signing ceremony” that, and guess who’s stuck makin’ sure everything’s perfect? Yours truly.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for lower taxes and keepin’ our borders safe. And if it means cuttin’ back on some of the goofy spendin’ that doesn’t even work, then heck yeah, I’m on board. It’s the smart thing to do, really. But did it have to be such a mess? Did it have to drag on forever? All the late-night calls, the endless meetin’s—it’s like they enjoy watchin’ us lose our minds. The Senate pullin’ an all-nighter was bad enough, but the House just had to top it, didn’t they? And this whole “July 4th deadline” thing? Pure baloney, and it’s makin’ my life a nightmare.
I’m so beat, I almost dozed off in the cafeteria today. Is it gonna be alright? Probably, but it will take me like a week to recover and my boss is STILL asking me for press clips.
