Interesting. This probably reveals something about admin priorities given the huge number of Dept. of Energy/NNSA folks getting pushed through with this.

That’s probably because they already got most of the Commerce/Treasury ppl in

Why does ARPA-E director require senate confirmation? DARPA / IARPA don’t and they are wayyyy bigger agencies

https://www.wsj.com/opinion/a-senate-confirmation-fast-lane-presidential-nominees-2c548531?mod=e2fb&fbclid=IwdGRjcAMsHpdleHRuA2FlbQExAAEeh8gzH4XpOdAY_1Ii5S5QFpe27pHcgvbXU3cXDdOmlAGX3kseRb2dn2Wx-cA_aem_1aQFZQXpfGFViw-HJdIwWA

Why does the CFO of an agency need to be confirmed? Honestly, most of these are just stupid.

It’s called advice and consent

Look it up

It’s in the Constitution

But does that really make sense though? Do Senators even remember who the Under Secretary or CFO of an agency is? Could they even tell you who most of this en bloc is without looking it up?

So the president can just appoint whoever they want willy nilly

For positions like these, yeah tbh. The only reason why it made sense for the Senate to confirm before was because it was always done by UC, meaning they never paid attention anyway.

Now Dems are disrupting the process so now we have to let it go.

Does this just empower the executive branch more though?

My point is that different departments treat agencies at the same level and function differently
