LD to VP: Is $250k a realistic target?

I’m currently an LD for a senior member on W&M and looking to make the jump to a multi-client firm. Recruiters are trying to anchor me around $175k, but with reconciliation 2.0 coming up next year, I feel like my committee experience has to be worth more. Is $250k actually achievable for a House LD right now? I don’t want to price myself out, but I definitely don’t want to leave money on the table.

We don’t actually know if Reconciliation 2.0 is happening next year, so you can’t really expect to be paid for that. A House LD averages around $120k, so add 50% private sector premium for $180k. W&M experience is probably worth something so I would ask somewhere in the $200k-210k range.

Mostly agree with @michaelclayton. Of course it matters if you’re republican, you can probably get a bump above the $200-$210 range, maybe get to $235?

I’m a Democrat. Do you think that is neutral or actively counts against me?

If you’re specifically trying to play up your ability to deliver outcomes for reconciliation 2.0, you should know better than anyone that it’s going to be a tough sell. If you can credibly point to changes you were able to get into TCJA 2.0, then maybe. But absent that, I think it’ll be neutral to a slight negative.
