I’ve never directly worked on the hill, but it’s still wild to me how cheap it is to get a Senator’s attention. I somehow missed this when it first came out, but the fact that you can buy a small group dinner with a Senator for a mere $1,000 is wild to me.

I think you’re missing the point of my post. I’m not focused on the issue of minor technicalities, but that it seems to cost basically nothing to be able to lobby a senator directly about issues
I hear you, but this is pretty par for the course kinda stuff. You have to win to make policy and you need money to win. This is just how things are.
I’d also argue that if people and interest groups aren’t willing to spend even that little bit to get a senator/member’s attention, then it must not be a very important issue then
So who’s had to staff one of these events? Any interesting gossip?
