What are some things I should know when I start
Congrats on making it in before the shutdown! Most important for you is to dress appropriately (if you’re a guy, suit+tie; if you’re a girl, professional attire), don’t be late, and always have a positive demeanor. Offer to help whenever possible and you’ll probably be able to get the next LC job that opens up in your office.

Don’t swear at the people you’re giving tours to. Nasty!
Memorize the tour booklet they give you, and do not under any circumstance say that the chandelier (you’ll know the one) came from the Titanic. It didn’t.
The red coats will hate you. Don’t pay them any mind.
Ditto. They were very mean to me when I first came to the Hill. Just ignore them.
Read up on Congressional procedure in your downtime and you’ll be able to really differentiate yourself versus your peers.
Focus on being a pleasant human being. This place is full of blowhards who rub ppl the wrong way. At your current career level, just don’t be an asshole and be proactive in offering to help and you should be fine.
