i just started in the house and its super cringe going to events by yourself when everyone else already has their clique to talk to

You should be more focused on learning legislative procedure than going to these hangouts. That’s what will really let you stand out as a legislative staffer
Don’t be atool @indebtedirishman. Realistically, your network is the single most important thing you develop here and it has surprisingly, and concerningly, little to do with your legislative skills. I’ve worked with idiots who somehow became an assistant secretary in less time than it’d take for a staff assistant to become an LC. And in most of those cases, I suspect they networked aggressively and possibly engaged in highly questionable behavior to land their nominations. But fact remains that it had nothing to do with their legislative skills, or lack thereof.
Define what “networking aggressively” means
I’m kinda new to the House, but are ppl generally more available during shutdowns for networking meetings?
It usually means just taking a lot of meetings and just seeing what sticks. But as alluded to in that big gay govt thread, there’re some ppl who will truly do whatever it takes to get ahead. Mostly sleeping around.
